In Fall of 2015 I was invited to pitch my skills to other students involved in entrepreneurial projects at the University of Central Oklahoma. The projects were part of a class called “Ideas to Opportunities” and ideas ranged from functional food products to software designed to decrease inventory costs.
I decided I could make the biggest world impact with a lever-action CPR device. This group soon became known as Heart Optic and not long after we formed a company.
We competed in a collegiate business plan competition, similar to the show “Shark Tank.” The competition consisted of over 400 students from schools in Oklahoma, Nevada and Arkansas. I was in charge of delivering a pitch and ensuring our business was one worth investing in. In the end, we were able to take home first place honors in Las Vegas after presenting and giving a pitch at the Cosmopolitan Hotel.
Post competition, my role was as the CEO and Co-Founder where I lead the team toward key milestones.
