In Summer of 2016, my University was invited by EdVenture Partners to participate in a competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Facebook. The object was to develop and execute campaigns and social media strategies. These efforts would need to combat extremism and be credible, authentic and believable and resonate among peers and within the community.
Our project, uDefy, battles the harmful ideologies and the manifestation of prejudices to stop the spread of extremist thoughts and actions. I was the acting Account Manager where I assisted each team member in making the project a reality.
We competed against prestigious teams from American University, University of Massachusetts, Cal Poly, George Mason, Penn State and many others. The uDefy Project ultimately received 2nd place honors in the U.S. division.
